WIP of Cordella and Branek

If you remember from so long ago I started a personal project about a mermaid called Cordella based on the old cornish tale.
Well here is a sketch of Cordella and the male of the animation Branek.

Mermaid

Just something that started as a doodle and grew into this rough animation. As it is 4am I think i’m going to stop now but continue in the morning getting more inbetweens in.

Animation Short Ides

So I have come up with an animation short idea. It all started when I was sat watching The Little Mermaid movie and thought how amazing the animation for Ariel is. As a student I decided to have a go at animating a mermaid, the secondary movement of the hair and fins underwater would be a great challenge!

As you can see I am yet to finish this very small movement, but I kept worrying that my mermaid would look too much like Ariel. This got me thinking that since Ariel there hasn’t been many more animated mermaids. Is this because of the only famous story was The Little Mermaid. So I googled, and after a few pages I found another very interesting story based in Cornish waters. The Mermaid of Zennor.

As a mini project through out university I will develop this story into a animated short. I am really excited about doing this but, of course it’ll take some time to do all the pre-production before I can even think of beginning animated. So wish me luck!
